Wanted: programming stage Plein 1944 during Vierdaagsefeesten

From July 13^th to July 19^th, 2024, Nijmegen will once again cel­e­brate sev­en days of fes­tiv­i­ties dur­ing the 53^rd edi­tion of the Vier­daagse­feesten. Most stages, squares, and parks are annu­al­ly filled by the same orga­niz­er. This orga­niz­er has a four-year con­tract from ACBN Even­e­menten­bu­reau, the orga­ni­za­tion behind Vier­daagse­feesten. These con­tracts cur­rent­ly run until 2025, so most loca­tions are already booked. How­ev­er, last year, Plein 1944 was unex­pect­ed­ly left vacant at the last minute, which is why this loca­tion is now avail­able for a new four-year con­tract. The orga­ni­za­tion that pre­vi­ous­ly filled Plein 1944 is still con­sid­er­ing whether they will sub­mit a plan again.

For years, this square has been a gath­er­ing place for peo­ple of all ages to enjoy excit­ing, inter­ac­tive live per­for­mances. From rock to dance and from the 90s to trib­ute acts, it catered to a diverse range of musi­cal tastes. The search is now on for the con­tin­u­a­tion of this con­cept: a large stage with medi­um-sized pro­gram­ming fea­tur­ing well-known artists. Giv­en the loca­tion’s posi­tion in the city, it is also impor­tant to have day­time activities.
