Roze Woensdag will take place in 2025 on Wednesday 16 July in Nijmegen. On the third Wednesday of July, during the second day of the Vierdaagse and the fifth day of the Vierdaagsefeesten. Roze Woensdag is more than just a big party. On Roze Woensdag we celebrate our freedoms, but we also reflect on the much-needed improvement in the field of social acceptance and legal acceptance.

Flood Nijmegen on Wednesday 16 Jul 2025 with pink decoration and rainbow flags! Roze Woensdag is the day to create visibility and acceptance for the LGBTI+ community in Nijmegen. The call is simple; hang a rainbow flag or pink decorations from the balcony, out your window and wear pink clothes on Roze Woensdag on July 16. The municipality of Nijmegen contributes and hangs the 25 meter long rainbow flag on the Stevenstoren.
History
Unfortunately, the situation during the Vierdaagsefeesten for LGBTI people was not always so rosy (or pink). In order to draw more attention to the rights of LGBTI people, Roze Woensdag was organized for the first time in 1984 during the Vierdaagsefeesten. In the early 1990s, this was only in the Van Welderenstraat. In 2002 Roze Zaterdag became Roze Woensdag for the first time. Fortunately, the popularity of Roze Woensdag has grown so much and nowadays on the Wednesday of the Vierdaagsefeesten, the entire center and the walking route are shrouded in pink. On Roze Woensdag there is now room for drag kings, drag queens and dancers!

Roze Woensdag Foundation
The Roze Woensdag Foundation aims to create visibility throughout the year for the LGBTIQ+ community in Nijmegen and the surrounding area. Also for the target groups that are less likely to come to an event like Roze Woensdag: it really is a party for everyone.
