Want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city during the Four Days Marches? Lean back in the cool Stevenskerk and listen to Belgian author Tom Lanoye . On Sunday 13 July from 2:00 to 3:00 PM he will be a guest in the Stevenskerk, at the invitation of the Gelderland Zuid Library and the Stevenskerk. He will talk about his work, with an emphasis on his latest book ReinAard - a radically modern adaptation of the picaresque novel Van den vos Reynaerde . Of course he will also give a reading. After the lecture he will sign books.
ReinAard as a gang member
From a young age, Lanoye has been fascinated by the medieval animal epic Reynaert de vos. About the fox who mercilessly punishes his fellow animals because they think they are smarter than him. In his adaptation of this classic, Lanoye returns to the spirit of the original. His ReinAard does not seek shelter in the sugary Disney universe of Bambi or Nemo, but has more affinity with family gangs such as the Sopranos or the Peaky Blinders. Lanoye's ReinAard knows the temptation of power, status, money and violence all too well. He regularly gives in to it and also enjoys it. But at the very least he is honest enough not to deny it, as his hypocritical fellow animals do.
Writers in the Stevenskerkis free to attend. Be sure to arrive early to secure a good spot.
