Opening Roze Woensdag en expositie in Stevenskerk

Pink Wednesday is one of the largest LHBTIQ+ events in the Netherlands. The opening of Pink Wednesday will take place in the Stevenskerk. The presentation will be in the hands of Angela Verkuijlen, the former night mayor of Nijmegen. Mayor Bruls will come by to perform the official opening. In addition, there will be two musical performances by four former students of the musical academy: during the walk-in and as a musical intermezzo.

This year, Pink Wednesday is dedicated to “Pink love in wartime” and to visibility. Eighty years ago, the Netherlands was liberated by the Allies. In 2024 and 2025, we will celebrate and commemorate the liberation and that we have been living in freedom since the end of the Second World War. At various times and places in the Netherlands, 80 years of freedom will be celebrated and commemorated. We also want to pay attention to this during our edition.

During the Four Days Marches, the Stevenskerk will host the exhibition "Pink Love in Wartime". This is part of the exhibition from the Freedom Museum. During the opening, there will be an interview with the curator of the Freedom Museum and an explanation of the exhibition. During the opening, the link between freedom in the past and present will be made.

The opening is open to everyone. If all seats are occupied, it is not possible to attend the opening, so come on time.

A translation from Dutch to English will be provided. There will also be a few people in the church who can translate for people who are not yet proficient in Dutch.
