Anneke van Giersbergen

Anneke van Giersbergen can easily be called the hardest working and most versatile singer in the Netherlands. She will forever be seen as the singer of The Gathering but has built her own solid solo career since 2007.

That she is a musical chameleon is evident from the collaborations with artists such as Devin Townsend, Anathema, Icelandic folk group Árstíðir, Napalm Death and BLØF. 2019 was all about the 25th anniversary of Anneke's career. This lustrum was celebrated with several sold-out shows. She was also rewarded with a Buma ROCKS! Export Award for most successful singer in the heavy genre. Her 'Goes To Church' tour in 2020 also brought her to the Stevenskerk for a sold-out show. A wonderful show with countless anecdotes from her rich touring past. after this intensive tour Anneke released 'The Darkest Skies Are The Brightest'. A personal and emotionally charged album. It is almost inevitable that there will be a number of beautiful songs on this record. She has already proven that the Stevenskerk fits her like a glove with her cheerful, engaging character. That is why we are happy to welcome Anneke again at this beautiful location during the Four Days Marches for one of her special performances.
