Sticks

Sticks is coming to Nijmegen this summer for a big live show at Stadseiland Stek! Junte Uiterwijk, better known as Sticks, broke through with the rap formation Opgezwolle and is now one of the biggest names in Dutch hip hop. The collaboration with rapper Rico and producer Delic was the start of a career full of diverse projects. From there, Sticks made one record after another. Sticks started working on solo albums and simultaneously started rap formation de Fakkelbrigade with his group of friends from Zwolle. Collaborations with names such as ART, Rico, Typhoon, Kubus, Freez, Winne, Jiggy Djé, Hef, Lijpe and Mula B followed.

In his never-ending quest for innovation, he released an autobiographical book in which he provides a unique insight into his creative process. The most recent albums that emerged from that process are 'STICKmatic' and 'Het Mooiste Komt Nu'. Early 2022, a documentary about Sticks' life was released, which bears the same name as his last album. In 2023, the new album 'Alles Over Hoop' was released. With this album, he started giving shows again after a long time. He sold out Paradiso Tolhuistuin within 5 minutes and followed this show with a sold-out Dutch tour. He appeared at Down The Rabbit Hole, Into The Great Wide Open and Lowlands, among others.

SUNSHINE

Death is never far away on this album, it lingers in the background, but the will to live is much more prominent. And what makes things live, things bloom? What creates the will to live. Sunshine.

My self-chosen family is always there at the important moments, when you need them the most. That's why I'm proud that Fakkelbrigade is on this album. Ty, Rico, Freez, James and Kubus, they're all there.

We were already together in Spuugdingen, in the meantime we all separated and went our own way, but now we have come together again and entered the studio. We are all very enthusiastic, you can hear that energy in the music.

Lentezon, the last song on the album, is a sweet and precious song about saying goodbye to my mother, a big event in my life. With that, death lurks in the background, but realize what you have and the will to live triumphs.
