Ruwhel & the Bigi Blues Band (presented by Tutti Live)

Ruwhel and his Bigi Blues Band take you on a blues journey steeped in Caribbean hip-hop. Born on Bonaire, Ruwhel Emers grew up in Rotterdam. He already showed in the hyper-personal theater piece 'Sin of a child' that he is not dealt the easiest cards to win the game. Also as part of the successful rap formation Wat Wat Is, he managed to mosh entire crowds while not shying away from depth.

At a live show by Ruwhel and the Bigi Blues Band you imagine yourself in a smoky '50s blues cafe, somewhere in the Caribbean. The soulful band, the seductive singer, but especially the entertaining frontman pull you out of your own reality for a while. Ruwhel proves that heavy, honest stories and parties can go well together. Moreover, he proves that blues is a much more diverse genre than is sometimes thought. It's a state of mind; a feeling. It is a tool to tell about pain. And you can also dance very nicely to it.

In 2022, the band mainly focused on the hometown of Rotterdam. They put themselves in the spotlight with performances at festivals such as Rotterdam Unlimited, Get Loose and Eendracht Festival. In between they won the Grand Prix of Rotterdam. Ruwhel also made an impact with his own talent development platform Levels.

With a rock-solid foundation in Rotterdam, 2023 will be all about conquering the rest of the Netherlands. They recently signed with On Track Agency. Together with the friends of De Likt they recently broke Doornroosje, in March the band will play at Grasnapolsky and next summer the Rotterdam Blues will rage throughout the country.
