Literaire Preken op zondag: Özcan Akyol (Eus)

In 2024 and 2025, Gelderland Zuid Library and the Stevenskerk Nijmegen Foundation will organize six literary Sermons on Sundays. High-profile authors address visitors from the pulpit in the Stevenskerk. Sermons have been preached for centuries at this unique location, the heart of the city of Nijmegen for 750 years. Whispered sermons, thunder sermons, straightforward sermons, incomprehensible sermons, inspiring sermons and soporific sermons. Come to the Stevenskerk during the Four Days Marches to escape the hustle and bustle of the city on Sunday afternoon and listen to Özcan Akyol deliver a fiery sermon on topics that affect him.

Özcan Akyol (Deventer, 1984), also known as Eus, is a Dutch writer, columnist and presenter. He made his debut in 2012 with the semi-autobiographical and critically acclaimed picaresque novel Eus and subsequently developed into a creative jack-of-all-trades. He also wrote the novels Tourist and Afslag 23 . Both titles became bestsellers that reached both young and older audiences.

Eus is also a columnist for various newspapers and magazines. He writes about a variety of topics, from domestic politics to our education system and sports. He made waves as a television presenter with successful titles such as De Neven van Eus , Sterren op het Doek , De Geknipte Gast , Home of Eus and Eus' Boekenclub .
