Citytour – beeldende kunst

Discover the pearls of the city center with our special art tours! On foot through the jungle of the Nijmegen Four Days Marches, we take you along the most special works of art in the city center. Our guides will guide you through the small alleys, busy streets and inconspicuous corners in search of the cultural pearls of Nijmegen art in the public space. Be surprised in this tour of about an hour and then enjoy the festivities again.

The visual arts city tour has been put together by curator Jan-Wieger van den Berg. He is actually an artist and graphic designer, but also very active as an organizer in the world of art and culture. For many years he has been involved with platform POST (formerly Expoplu), a platform for contemporary art. Since 2010 he is program and policy maker at the 'Artist in residence Besiendershuis' in Nijmegen. Art and culture and the surprising dynamics that this can bring about in the city are close to his heart. An accessible and open connection between art and the public and between the public and art is of great importance for mutual understanding, appreciation and support. He therefore tries to be that connection every now and then.

This tour starts daily at 2 p.m. at the entrance of the Valkhof Festival, where you will find the beautiful first image of the route in the form of an angel. Participation is free, group size is limited to 25 people. Secure your spot and make a reservation. Be on time: your reservation expires at 2 p.m. sharp and you can join freely if the group is not too large.
