Bongeziwe Mabandla

On Thursday, July 18, Bongeziwe Mabandla will play in the Stevenskerk. The South African singer makes a unique mix of afro-folk and soul with electronic influences. He grew up in the Eastern Cape town of Tsolo and later moved to Johannesburg, where he developed into a versatile artist. Mabandla has now recorded four critically acclaimed albums and performed on various national and international stages.

Mabandla first came to the attention of music fans with his 2012 debut, Umlilo. In collaboration with composer, instrumentalist and producer Tiago Correia-Paulo, he has since released three albums - Mangaliso (2017), iimini (2020) and his most recent, amaXesha (2023).
