Blue Mask

On October 27, 2013, Lou Reed, one of the most influential musicians ever, died. He was the founder and composer of Velvet Underground, the all-time great band whose debut album The Velvet Underground and Nico consistently ends up at number 1 on critics' best-albums-of-all-time lists. He was a central figure in the New York underground of the 1960s and recorded a series of classic albums with Velvet Underground.

As a solo artist, we know Lou Reed from 'evergreens' such as Perfect Day, Walk On The Wild Side, Vicious and Satellite of Love. Songs that we see every year in the higher regions of the Top-2000. In addition, he delivered timeless albums such as Transformer, Berlin, The Blue Mask, New York and Magic And Loss. His albums contain not only the hits, but also special sound experiments, ballads and raw rock and roll. Important themes are relationships, love, drug abuse, paranoia and death. Lou's cool, observant voice is central. Although not always very pure, it is always honest.

We are The Blue Mask, named after the 1982 album of the same name, and we pay tribute to Lou Reed, the man, the legend and his music. We play the hits and various songs of Velvet Underground. And we do that with great pleasure – recognizably Lou Reed and professional, but at the same time challenging with the typical rough edges. We play in music cafés and theaters and at pop stages and festivals.
