Baobab Soundsystem

El Mágico Baobab is a Colombian/Dutch sound system also known as a picó or turbo.

Picó sound systems are mainly found along the Caribbean coast of Colombia in cities such as Barranquilla, Cartagena and Santa Marta. These picós bring life to the streets and contribute to the rich culture of these cities. The hand-painted fluorescent designs on these huge sound systems are unique to this region. As of early 2023, this original, handmade sound system has found its way to Europe.

What sets El Mágico Baobab apart is our collaboration with renowned artist William Guitterez Peñaloza, considered a master of this style. We proudly display his original artwork. Get ready to immerse yourself in a wide range of tropical music, from salsa to cumbia, champeta to highlife.

You can find them all week long at the Smaakmarkt near the roundabout, with a line-up to die for!
