Woodcraft is a groundbreaking string quintet of five young composers and instrumentalists. Since 2017, the group has taken its own musical path. They create music that interweaves jazz, funk, folk and classical influences, resulting in a unique medley. In their compositions, improvisation and fixed forms flow effortlessly into each other, creating dynamic and adventurous stories. The ensemble draws inspiration from artists such as Herbie Hancock, Igor Stravinsky and Bela Fleck. Their goal is to make music that takes you on an adventure and makes you dance! Their musical journey has led them to prominent venues and festivals, such as the North Sea Jazz Festival, the Cello Biennale, the BIMHUIS and the Grachtenfestival Amsterdam. In 2022, they won the first and audience prizes at the renowned Dutch Jazz Competition.
