Grondslag: Helen Jewett

Helen Jewett is an alternative band from Zwolle, formed by three young musicians who met during a spontaneous school workshop. What started with a bucket of name tags and a few rehearsals grew into a musical collaboration in which they transformed their shared passion for bands like Joy Division, Radiohead and My Bloody Valentine into a unique sound.

Helen Jewett's music is a fusion of post-punk and shoegaze, enriched with elements of folk, electronic, hardcore and ambient. Their poetic lyrics deal with themes such as existential questions, nostalgia and the turbulence of modern life, adding a profound and evocative layer to their music. This results in an icy and introspective soundscape that invites listeners to reflect.

On January 31st 2025 Helen Jewett released their debut album 'Astrolabium', recorded at Schenk Studio in Amsterdam under the guidance of producer Daan Duurland. The album is praised for its dynamics and versatility, and is considered the band's proudest work to date.

Helen Jewett has performed on various stages and festivals, including the Bevrijdingsfestival Overijssel and as a support act for Paceshifters in venues such as TivoliVredenburg and Hedon. Their energetic live performances and authentic sound make them a striking appearance in the Dutch alternative music scene.
