Etan Huijs (Presented by HKconcerten)

Venray singer-songwriter Etan Huijs is a long-term artist. He debuted in 2007 with the EP Travelling Between Places . It was a first step. Many small steps would follow, until in 2018 The Secret Us and the accompanying lead single Little Bird marked a turning point. After many years of struggling on the fringes, Huijs finally started to be picked up nationally. Invitations from NPO Radio 2 and 5 followed. A band also started to form around the singer. An extremely productive and qualitative period followed. After The Secret Us, the long player The Monochrome Veil and the EP Dreams In Multicolor were also unanimously received with praise by the press and the public.

2024 was the year of The Road And The Wilderness , the fifth long player of the Venraynaar. On the record, Huijs can be heard in all his facets. The record was produced by Etan's regular producer BJ Baartmans. The productive period continued; early 2025, the live album Songs From The Road , recorded in Amsterdam, was released, on which several new songs can also be heard.

Etan sings personal stories and social observations. His music has been hard to pigeonhole for years, but in recent years the term Americana has sufficed. This is due to the often narrative lyrics and rootsy musical approach. Etan's live band consists of Rens van Dijk (bass, mandolin), Koen Ruijs (electric guitar) and Roel Trommelen (drums) in 2025.
