Harpist Doriene Marselje combines one of the most important harp works from the classical canon, the suite for harp by Benjamin Britten, with more modern works by John Cage and Tony Roe. During this concert Doriene explores the boundaries of acoustic and electronic music.
Doriene will play, among other things, 2 movements from Interference by Tony Roe – a work that was written especially for her and is included on her latest album Interference, recently released on TRPTK. She will also play In a Landscape by John Cage, a quiet and timeless work that forms a special contrast with the layered character of Roe's composition. During the performance, Doriene uses live electronics, including delay and reverb effects and a ring modulator, with which she manipulates the sounds of the harp live and merges the acoustic and electronic sounds.
The programme is further framed by Benjamin Britten’s expressive Suite for Harp and Toshio Hosokawa’s meditative Re-Turning – works that each explore silence, resonance and virtuosity in their own way.
Tickets: €7.50 available via the button at the top of the page.
