3J's

It has been fifteen years since (February 2007) that Jan Dulles, Jaap Kwakman and Jaap de Witte went out nationally as the 3JS with their first single, after a lead-up period of another ten years that had been of vital importance to the gentlemen. By playing in many different (English-language) bands they learned to make music in as many styles as possible. This knowledge and experience eventually came together in the repertoire of 3JS. A folk-pop sound based on acoustic instruments that then spread to many other styles with the Dutch language and the voice of singer Jan Dulles as important common denominators.

If the music of the 3JS had to be captured in a few words, then that is where it comes close: acoustic Dutch-language folk-pop but then in the broadest sense of the word. After all, folk music exists in all countries. Irish folk, American blues and country, French chansons, Gypsy music from the Balkans, Portuguese Fado, reggae from Jamaica, Dominican bachata or tango from Argentina... everything has always been allowed to influence the albums of the 3JS.

This versatility is characteristic of the repertoire and personalities of singer Jan Dulles and guitarists Jaap Kwakman and Robin Küller. Folk music is timeless. It is passed on from generation to generation and is characterized by acoustic, earthy instruments, violin, accordion, piano, mandolin, harmony singing and rich melodies that go to the heart. The lyrics are narrative, romantic, about life, the landscape, love and loss... in Dutch. With the voice of Jan Dulles, every kind of music becomes '3JS music'.

Through their participation in TV programs such as De Zomer Voorbij, De Beste Zangers van Nederland and also the many items on programs such as DWDD, the 3JS have been able to show themselves from all musical sides and in the meantime they have never been away from the radio with their own music. Nine studio albums of which four achieved gold status, in ten years, is admirable.
