Walk for four days, party for seven. This year, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Vierdaagsefeesten with an extra special anniversary edition. We would love for you to come celebrate with us!
Watch the trailer!
At the largest, freely accessible event in the Netherlands, Nijmegen will show us what she’s got: choose from over a 1000 different performances divided over 40 different stages. Whether you are into pop, classic, rock, techno or jazz, we cater to every taste.
What is a party without celebrating it with others? At the Vierdaagsefeesten we have got you covered: party together with one and a half million other visitors who can be found in Nijmegen these seven days. Want to escape the busy buzz of the inner city for a while? Take a break in one of our parks, enjoy our beach or visit an exposition. You could also decide to enjoy a theater performance, gain some skills at a workshop or even attend a lecture!
What, when, where?
On Saturday, we will kick-off the 50th edition of the Vierdaagsefeesten. Following the opening of the event, Sunday will feature a spectacular firework show at the Waalkade. On Wednesday we celebrate acceptance and diversity, as Nijmegen will be turned into a pink celebration of tolerance. A closing ceremony on Friday — highlighting the accomplishments of those participating in the Internationale Vierdaagse Afstandsmarsen Nijmegen — will mark the end of the event.
Want to see everything? Doing just one round to see all stages will result in a 7-kilometer walk. Luckily, you also have seven full days to walk it.
At this special edition of the Vierdaagsefeesten, we have decided to not present single and popular acts on large stages as for instance the one at the Waalkade. Why not? Because we simply want to guarantee that everyone has enough space and breathing room to enjoy the event. So instead, we have dispersed a number of special and somewhat smaller surprises around town, and we will make sure to highlight each and every one of these gems.
Special and exceptional highlights will be emphasized using the following new themes: I Love Music, Nimweegs gezellig (Nimweegs fun), Kidsroute, Uit je plaat (Raise the roof), Gouden Randje (Golden touch), Inspannen & ontspannen (Exert & relax) and Vier de Nacht (Celebrate the night). These themes will make it easy for you to choose between the 1000 performances held on the more than 40 different stages. Create your own route in the app and discover all that Nijmegen has to offer.

Free entrance? Get a drink at the bar!
We take it for granted: every year we get to party and enjoy live shows at various locations during the Vierdaagsefeesten. The event, however, is expensive to organize. Obviously, the largest freely accessible event in the Netherlands does cost money. We earn a part of this money through the drinks that you buy at the bar! This income is used to pay artists, acts, equipment and décor, among other things. So if you make sure to buy a drink or two at the bar, we will take care of everything else ?. Deal?
Disclaimer: some parts of the program are not freely accessible:
StevenskerkLive. During the Vierdaagsefeesten, the Stevenskerk — which is located in the city center — will be home to some wonderful performances by renowned artists. You do, however, need a ticket for these shows. Buy your tickets here for LUWTEN, Echo Collective plays ‘Amnesiac’, KOKOROKO, Roxeanne Hazes, The Teskey Brothers (sold out), Josh Ritter of Lucky Fonz III.
Classic goes Underground. The lowest floor of parking garage Kelfkenbos will be transformed into a unique location for classical music. From Saturday through Monday night between 20.00-21.00, you can enjoy one of a kind classical music concerts here. Even though entrance is free, making a reservation ahead of time is required. Make your reservation here (with a maximum of two tickets per reservation).
Celebrate the night. For those wanting to party until the sun comes up, it is important to know that many clubs and bars in Nijmegen do charge some sort of entrance fee. These fees will differ per location. You may sometimes even need a ticket to be able to attend certain parties, as is the case in for instance Doornroosje or the Lindenberg. Tickets for those parties can be found on the respective websites of these venues. In other clubs and bars, you often get charged an entrance fee at the door.
As the parties rage on at the Vierdaagsefeesten, the Internationale Vierdaagse Afstandsmarsen are also being walked on Tuesday July 16 through Friday July 19. Each day, marchers will walk a route of 30, 40 or even 50 kilometers. Their marching routes cross right through town, where the parties are in full swing and celebrations commence. In fact, as partygoers we love to cheer on and applaud the marchers, to not only motivate them but also to celebrate their accomplishments!
